Jacquard Stitch Ribbon
Last night I stitched the Jacquard Stitch Ribbon. I love Caron Snow!! It is white and sparkly with little flecks of different colors. It is a soft, pliable thread and really easy to stitch. This chainette thread doesn twist or fray. This is my "go to" shiny white thread!
Next I stitched the gold sections of the Jacquard Stitch. This is also a chainette thread and covers beautifully. It is also a soft, pliable thread and really easy to stitch. I had to make sure it laid flat but didn use a laying tool. This is a very slippery ribbon thread. The ends frayed on me,louis vuitton handbags, but not too bad. I had no trouble keeping it flat without a laying tool. I love the look, but it isn a "mindless stitching" thread!
I wasn happy with my thread pull for the aqua area of the Jacquard Stitch. So I went back to my stash. I really looked at what was already stitched. Three variations of "shiny". I wanted a matte aqua. Also an overdyed. But what I pick was too jumpy with the color changes.
Finally, I picked The Pure Palette Soy Luster Shadows 389 Indian Jewelry. I usually stay away from stranded threads because one strand always becomes shorter so I know there is a puffed up strand throughout my stitching. This bothers me. Put I don know how to solve it so I just usually stay away from stranded threads. Indian Jewelry was the perfect color and has a very subtle variation in color. I went with it. I used 3 strands for this 14 mesh canvas. Coverage was great. I paid close attention so the "shorter thread" problem was minimal.
While stitching the Jacquard Stitch Ribbon I realized I should stitch the dark green background so I had somewhere to anchor threads. I pulled Vineyard Merino M1068 Hunter Green. This color is very true to what was painted. Also I thought it would be easier to pull the other ribbon colors if this color was stitched. That it for now! I keep you posted!
My theory as to why plies of thread end up with one shorter (or longer) than the rest in the needle is it is due to the twist of the threads. I think that when we stitch, the plies all turn slightly differently as we work with them and some get shorter that way. A laying tool does seem to help and giving your needle a quarter turn every few stitches also seems to help. But I am not 100% certain of the reason for this or that my techniques of laying tool plus twisting the needle actually do much. Perhaps a real expert can tell us?
